What is remind101?
remind101 is a website that provides a safe way for teachers to text message or email students and parents. You can read about the company history here.
How does remind101 work?
Great question! First, a teacher adds his/her class, which generates a unique code. The teacher then shares that code with students or parents. At that point, any student or parent who sends a text message with the code will be "subscribed" to the teacher's class. Any time a teacher sends a message from remind101, all the students or parents subscribed will receive it. This short video explains it A-Z.
How do my students/parents sign up?
Students and parents sign up for notifications by sending a text message with a teacher's class code (e.g. text @code to 555-555-5555). They may also sign up by sending an email to the teacher's code (e.g. code@remind101.com). The medium they sign up with determines how they will receive notifications. So if a student signs up from her phone, she will receive text messages. Likewise, a parent who emails in will receive messages via email.
How much does it cost?
remind101 is in beta and currently free. Our goal is to keep it free for teachers. If we decide to charge for premium services, we will give current users a reasonable forewarning so they may prepare.
Do you support international messaging?
Currently, we support messaging within the U.S. and Canada. If you’d like to use remind101 at your school internationally, add your country to this form. To our Canadian users: We deliver text messages from a U.S. phone number. If you are unsure whether US based text messages are included in your plan, please check with your carrier prior to using remind101.
Is it free for students and parents?
Standard messaging rates apply.
Are class codes case sensitive?
No.

Will students see my number?
No, that’s the beauty of remind101. Each teacher is assigned a phone number, which a student or parent will text to subscribe. Once subscribed, remind101 will ask for the students/parents name so that the teacher can identify them. remind101 never shows the teacher that person's number, which means they never see student numbers and students never see theirs.
Will remind101 share your phone number?
No.
How do students or parents opt out of receiving messages?
Text message: To unsubscribe from all classes, simply reply with the word
“stop”.
Email: Reply to your teacher's email with the word
"unsubscribe"
in the subject field to stop receiving notifications for that class.
I’m a student and want to use remind101, but my teacher isn’t using it yet. What can I do?
